What is your opinion on Daler-Rowney Georgian Oil Colors? I just started to paint and i wanted to know if this brand sucks, if you can,can you rate it 1 to 10? 10 being the highest.

I need to switch to winton, a winsor n newton product, since my art store has more of that brand, so can you also rate that brand as well?

According to Dick Blick's website "Daler-Rowney's Georgian Oils are made in the same way as Rowney's Artist Oils, to the same high standards. The main difference between them lies in the choice and strength of pigments." The same website about Winton: "Winsor & Newton's formulas for the Winton Oils include modern hue pigments that produce an extremely close likeness in color to the more expensive natural pigments, and have excellent permanence ratings. These modern formulas are an affordable alternative to some of the traditional pigments. Winton Oils are intermixable with other oils."

In my opinion, why not buy artist's grade oils and get full strength pigmentation without the binders and fillers that are used in cheaper grades? Paint names with "hue" indicate that the original pigmentation ingredient, often toxic, has been replaced by safer (or cheaper) alternatives whilst retaining the hue of the original.
